About Me

Let me introduce myself. My name is Drew Biedermann, and I am a modern day ghost. As a ghost, my main aim is finding peace. Then again, who isn't looking for peace in this world? I'm a 27 year old graduate student from Long Island, studying journalism.

I hope for this forum to be a pot luck grab bag. Being a child of divorce in an ADD-addled culture, my thoughts tend to be a little scattershot. So I'll be touching on aspects of society from sports to politics, the allure of celebrity to the plight of people. When I was growing up, my high school buddies used to call me 10 pounds of shyt in a five pound bag. I hope Drew's News becomes a place where people can come to talk about anything. That, or a lucrative franchise of magazine stands.

Personally, I'm unsure of God's existence. But I don't think he doesn't exist. There won't be too much religion chat here; too much of a semantic mess to sift through. Yet I've seen people affected by God's hand, so I'm hopeful. But I do believe in people. That's going to be my downfall. Inherently, people are flawed, myself included. Still, I believe people have the capacity to do great good (and conversely, great bad) in the world.

Inevitably, you will read a lot of anecdotes and stories about the decline of Western culture. This has been taking place since the end of the Gilded Age, or for almost a century now. Americans, living in a free market democracy, have more and less liberties at the same time, compared to other cultures. More than anything, it's how Americans have been shepherded around by corporate enterprise for the better part of a century now. I'd like to start the trend back towards individual thinking, and critical questioning.

Buckle up, cause it'll be a bumpy ride. Don't worry, tho. I drive safely. Well, I'm not safe. But my car's a Volvo. That's safe, right, driving an import?
